With 4.5 million acres of public lands, it's no wonder Penn's Woods is so popular with outdoorsy types. Our parks, mountains, trails, and countrysides offer unlimited ways to go out and play!

YMCA Strong Kids Bike Tour
Submitted By: Craig Latimer
Its the very best way to see PA: a 6 day bike tour from the NW corner of the state finishing in the SW corner. The YMCA Bike Tour raises money for the Erie YMCA with full van support using motels and resturants along the way. Back road PA at its best riding through Kinzua, Wellsboro, Pine Creek Gorge, Williamsport, Bloomsburg and Lehigh Valley, ending in Jim Thorpe.
Next YMCA Tour leaves Sept. 20, 2009. Just 12 spots remain.
Information, YMCA of Greater Erie: (814) 452-1432, ext. 252.

The Pocono Mountains are all around us—great hiking, biking, you know, outdoorsy stuff. Just off 407 is Lake Lackawanna. You can fish, swim, picnic. It's beautiful. But my choice would be Lake Wallenpaupack. Best lake in PA, if you ask me.

Being in the woods---that's my thing. Hunting is just the excuse! I'm so glad I live in the Pennsylvania Wilds, where the forests stretch for acres and the turkeys are plentiful.
Also check out State Game Lands 31 and 14.
